Sofia Vergara never believed her "ridiculous accent" would see her crowned the Favourite Comedic TV Actress at the People's Choice Awards.
The 44-year-old actress - who was born in Colombia - was recognised for her contribution to the comedy scene at the star studded event, which took place on Wednesday evening (18.01.17) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, and the star has revealed she is surprised her Latin tongue has made her "so successful".
Speaking at the event, the golden haired beauty said: "Never in a million years I thought that with this ridiculous accent I was ever going to be able to be a part of something so successful, something so loved by all of you. I haven't taken for granted, not even one day of these eight years."
And the 'Hot Pursuit' star hopes her career can inspire other actors and actresses to go forward and follow in her footsteps despite the hint of their mother tongue slipping through.
She explained: "It has opened so many doors for me in my career. It has changed my life. It has opened so many doors for other Latin actors, and we need so much more doors to be open. But I am thankful. Please keep giving us opportunities because we will not disappoint you."
