Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift only writes songs about "crazy love".

The 'I Knew You Were Trouble' singer is famed for composing angst-ridden tracks about her string of famous ex-boyfriends, who include Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer and Harry Styles, but she insists she only puts pen to paper if it was a meaningful romance, and there are plenty of men she chooses not to write about.

She told New York Magazine: "I only write songs about crazy love. If I go on two dates with a guy and we don't click, I'm not writing a song about that.

"It didn't matter in the emotional grand scheme of things. There's a lot that goes on in daily life that isn't really worth turning into a verse and a chorus."

The 23-year-old country singer admits not all her beaus have been receptive to her music, although the ex her latest album was about - widely thought to be actor Jake Gyllenhaal - was very complimentary.

Taylor said: "I heard from the guy that most of 'Red' is about. He was like, 'I just listened to the album, and that was a really bittersweet experience for me. It was like going through a photo album.'

"That was nice. Nicer than, like, the ranting, crazy e-mails I got from this one dude."

The pop princess claims being unpopular at school gave her the motivation to pursue a career in music.

She added: "Daydreaming was kind of my No. 1 thing when I was little, because I didn't have much of a social life going on. I didn't always have 14,000 people wanting to hang out with me on a Saturday night.

"I always used to daydream about what it would be like to stand on a really big stage and sing songs for a lot of people."
