The 42-year-old Blink-182 drummer was involved in an accident when a school bus hit his car and Travis feels lucky that he and his passengers, including his young son, are safe.

He told Us Weekly: "I was on the way to my son's basketball game and a school bus ran a stoplight and totaled my car. It was pretty crazy. I'm really lucky everyone's safe.

"It was just more scary than anything."

Travis was said to have been left feeling dazed following the collision, which occurred in Calabasas when he was making a left turn.

There were no children on the bus when the incident took place, however, the accident created a mess on the streets and emergency vehicles had to be called to block off the area.

It has been a tough few weeks for Travis as his band was forced to postpone dates on their Las Vegas residency last month when his doctor warned him not to perform after he suffered from blood clots in his arms, followed by a staph infection.

Travis said: "I'm as good as I can be. I'm just following the doctor's orders. I actually had [a] staph infection and a ton of blood clots, and I've just been in a recovery period. So I'm just waiting for everything. I see doctors weekly."

And he hopes to be back at work within the next three weeks.

He said: "They're doing a lot for things to hyper heal my hand so as soon as that happens, it's a green light."

Travis recently opened up about his condition with fans, by sharing a video on YouTube - which shows his journey from discovering the issue to working his way back to normality.

He said: "It's been the longest four weeks without playing drums. I played through two shows in Vegas with infection and blood clots before I was able to get a clear diagnosis from a doctor. Here's an update on my road to recovery."

The clip showed the musician visiting his doctor, and receiving the news that although the clots in his arms won't move to his lungs, drumming will still cause inflammation in his arm.
