The 47-year-old actor - who portrays Deadshot in the highly-anticipated Warner Bros. and DC Comics anti-hero movie about a mercenary team of super villains - walked the black carpet at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Monday (01.08.16) evening with his 18-year-old offspring, and the pair happily posed for photos together.

Will recently admitted landing a part in the film alongside the likes of Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Cara Delevingne, Jai Courtney, Scott Eastwood and Viola Davis was the first time his kids, Jaden, 23-year-old Trey, and 16-year-old Willow, had thought of him as cool.

He said: "This is the type of thing that, no matter how cool you think you are, your kids think you suck.

"This is like the first time where like I'm cool for real. The Suicide Squad, I don't know what it is, but something about this idea and something about this cast has really captured something."

The actor admitted he was going to take advantage of his new cool status while he could.

He added: "So my kids are doing what I say, at least for the next couple of months."

And Will - who is married to Jada Pinkett Smith, the mother of his two youngest children - recently revealed Jaden invited all his loved ones to London to celebrate his 18th birthday as he was busy promoting a new TV series in Britain.

However, the 'Karate Kid's star's family soon realised he had an ulterior motive as he wanted to take advantage of the fact the legal drinking age in the UK is 18, three years younger than that in the US.

Will said: "He has a show coming out called 'The Get Down' so he was promoting in London. So he was like, 'Guys, you know, it's before my birthday, I'll be promoting in London, everybody should come to London and we'll just celebrate my birthday there!

"I was like, 'Wow,' like that's cool. So we go and hang out for his birthday and I'm like, 'Man, that's really good. He wanted his family with him.'

"And then we go to a restaurant...and Jaden was just particularly excited and we sit down and he looked at the waiter and says, 'I'll have a tequila!' I said 'Woah, woah man. Hold up. What you doing? and he says, 'The drinking age is 18 in England, dad. I was like, 'You joker!' "

But Will soon shot down Jaden's plan thanks to some "fast" thinking.

He said: "I was thinking fast. I said, 'Oh, but hold on, hold on, hold on. It's only noon in LA and you weren't born till 4, so you're not 18 yet!' "

Will and Jaden were joined at the premiere by the all-star cast, while fans were able to catch all the action on the black carpet as it happened as it was live-streamed on Twitter.
