The theatre may be something many of us have missed over the past year or so, with the global pandemic putting a stop to many enjoyable activities. However, in recent months, the world has begun to open up again, which means that this world is one that can now thankfully carry on...

The Da Vinci Code has announced the stars that will be taking centre-stage in the award-winning production: Nigel Harman (Eastenders) will play Robert Langdon, Red Dwarf and Blade 2 star Danny John-Jules will be playing Sir Leigh Teabing, and newcomer to theatre, Hannah Rose Caton (The Falling), has been cast as Sophie Neveu. 

This will be the first-ever stage adaptation of the international literary phenomenon The Da Vinci Code, written by Dan Brown. 

Producer for the show, Simon Friend, said “We have a truly stellar cast and creative team bringing The Da Vinci Code to life on stage for the first time...

“...and with Dan Brown’s full endorsement of the show”, continued Friend, “and the talented director Luke Sheppard at the helm, we’re confident that we’ll please devoted fans as well as newcomers to this magnificent story.” 

“I am thrilled that The Da Vinci Code is being adapted for the stage,” said Brown himself, “and excited to see the unique potential of live theatre enhance this story. 

“The team making the production has been faithful to the book, but will also bring something new for the audience, in what is certain to be a gripping, fast-paced stage thriller and a thoroughly entertaining show.”

The tour will begin at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley on January 10th, 2022, and will then continue to Nottingham, Sheffield, Bath, Plymouth, Clywd, Coventry, Hull, Wolverhampton, Cheltenham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Newcastle. 

That’s not the end, however; after Newcastle, the show will travel to Southampton, Richmond, Woking, Leicester, Norwich, York, Shrewsbury, Dartford, Birmingham, Cardiff, Milton Keynes, Aberdeen, Salford, Leeds, Malvern, Belfast, Guildford, Northampton, Swindon, Liverpool and Bradford, where it will run until November 12th, 2022. 

The Da Vinci Code has already received some high praise, as The New York Times stated that the show was ‘An exhilarating, breathless thriller-chase. Blockbuster perfection.’
