Pierre-Charles Boudot was able to put a stop to Victor Ludorum's unbeaten record after delivering an impressive performance while riding The Summit in the Prix de Fontainebleau, which was a key trial for next month's Poule d'Essai des Poulains racing.

This was an unexpected event as Victor Ludorum, who won the Grand One Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere last October, was widely expected to be the victor of the trial for the French 2000 Guineas only for an outsider, The Summit, to snatch it away from him which was predicted in some racing accumulator tips for the trial.

Right from the start, Mickael Barzalona was unable to find his footing on Victor Ludorum, who struggled to pull on straight, and also unable to catch up on The Summit, who had set a big gap from the start, throughout the race.

The Summit, being boarded by Pierre-Charles Boudot, was still leading the race freely with a huge gap created against the second when he pushed his mount on with only two furlongs left before reaching the end of the trial.

As Ludorum was unable to catch up with The Summit, Ecrivain, who had a very difficult path was able to close the gap a little rushing past Victor Ludorum to fastly snatch the second position, which is where he finished the race at.

The Summit was seen to have been brought on at 8-1 for the Poule d'Essai des Poulains, while Victor Ludorum was 7-2.

Speaking about his win, The Summit trainer, Alex Pantall said: "He has strengthened up over the winter and he ran very well on his comeback at Saint-Cloud when Pierre-Charles wasn't too hard on him and he was only beaten a whisker. I knew he would come on for that.

"He is a very straightforward ride and I told Pierre-Charles to do what he felt was right. He relaxed out in the lead and did it very well."

With the defeat at the Prix de Fontainebleau, Andre Fabre was denied of his 11th consecutive wins by Pierre-Charles Boudot and was further sent off at 1.4.
