Clint Eastwood signs up to be honorary chairman for Washinton museum

Clint Eastwood has signed up as an honorary chairman at a Washington DC memorial museum to help pay tribute to America's fallen police officers.

The Dirty Harry legend will take on the role at the uncompleted Nation Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum and he'll also front an advertising campaign for the institution.

Eastwood could not be more thrilled to take the position.

He says: "On average, an officer is killed in the line of duty somewhere in America every 53 hours... Yet, despite those daunting risks, some 800,000 men and women go out every day to serve and protect us.

"I am deeply honoured to help tell their heroic story of service and sacrifice... We owe those who have fallen, and all of our nation's law enforcement officers, a huge debt of gratitude
