Jeremy Renner is so terrified of falling victim to a crazed stalker, he keeps a shotgun and a samurai sword under his bed.
The Hurt Locker star refuses to retreat to a guarded mansion in the Hollywood Hills but admits it makes him nervous when fans post "lots of notes" under the door of his Los Angeles home.
He tells Seven magazine, "They're nice notes, so I can't complain. (Stalkers are) scary stuff, but if a girl ever does that to me, what's really going to happen?
"I have a shotgun and a samurai sword under my bed, so I'm protected. I'm not lying."
Renner has seen his star rocked since starring in Kathryn Bigelow's war drama, a role which saw him Oscar nominted.
He is back on the big screen in the new year with Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and will reprise the role of Hawkeye in The Avengers next summer.
