Rumours are circulating that John Mayer and pal Rob Dyrdek faked their trip to the hospital at the weekend (13-14Jun09) as part of an outlandish publicity stunt.
Mayer was photographed carrying Dyrdek out of the MyHouse club in Los Angeles on Saturday night (13Jun09) and helping him into a waiting car.
The singer updated his Twitter.com page to inform followers he had taken his friend to the city's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to get his stomach pumped after Dyrdek fell ill, writing: "When the contents of his stomach hit that silicon bag and we all saw it, we just broke into applause."
But Dyrdek already seems to be back on his feet after the gut-wrenching wild night, prompting rumours Mayer was just pulling a prank.
A post on his Twitter.com page reads: "A funny night out with @johncmayer."
And a source tells People.com the pair was purposely trying spin up a fake story with its online updates: "It was fake, they were just having fun and screwing around for publicity."
