Pete Doherty  will be released in time to headline at Britain’s Reading and Leeds festivals this August, on the condition he stays out of trouble in prison.

Doherty, former front man for the Libertines, pleaded guilty to the possession of cocaine and was sentenced to six months in prison on Friday.

New laws in the U.K. mean that prisoners can now have their sentences halved following good behaviour, and Doherty hopes that he will be able to get back to performing just days after leaving prison.

Doherty is set to perform at the festivals on the 26 and 28 August, and is due to be released on the 21 August.

His name is no longer listed on the line up of Scotland’s T in the Park but he is still listed as part of the line up at the Oxegen festival in Dublin this July.
