Tom Petty bans Politician from using his song for campaign
Tom Petty is annoyed with Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann for using his song American Girl at her campaigns as he does not agree with her politics.
The singer has demanded that she stop using the song.
Republican Bachmann announced her official bid to run against President Barack Obama on Monday and upset Heartbreaker leader Petty by using his rousing anthem.
The rocker's management team has sent Backmann's campaign officials a cease and desist letter, asking them to stop using the song as her theme tune.
This is not the first time a politician has upset Petty in using one of his songs on a campaign - rollingstone.com reveals the singer had to stop George W. Bush from using solo hit 'I Won't Back Down' at rallies back in 2000.
