It's an odd world we live in, where so many terrible things can be going on, but all of the news headlines lead with negatively-skewed reports of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have decided that they want to go about their married life in a different way to the one prescribed to them by the people they love.

What's been made abundantly clear in the past few days of reaction is that much of the criticism aimed at the pair is unfairly weighted, with the brunt of the vitriol aimed at Meghan, who is painted as some sort of manipulative villain, who has led poor Harry the lamb astray. They're comfortable in erasing Harry's history of being completely different to the rest of the Royal Family, instead laying the blame firmly at the door of the American former actress ever since she entered the frame.

Those who seem angriest are older white men who seem to believe that Meghan and Harry owe them something, simply because of their position within the monarchy. But, after the Queen released a statement which showed her supporting the wishes of her grandson and his wife, will they now stop ripping into the pair at every opportunity? That's doubtful. We're still seeing some of them take to their social media platforms, typing out misogynistic messages that they hope will gain them a bit of clout with their brain-dead following who are unable to conjure up a single original thought for themselves.

Let's for a moment remember some of the good Meghan has done. She has after all been active in charity and activist work since being a child. That is something that often goes unsaid by the media, who would instead prefer to focus on the opinions of those who want to drag Meghan down, rather than lifting her up.

Meghan enjoys working with a number of different causes across the globe, bringing a spotlight to humanitarian organisations that give support to women's equality, health and overall rights. Ever since her engagement to Harry, she has been able to focus deeper than ever before on that humanitarian work after retiring from the world of acting. She will however be returning to Hollywood to record a voiceover for an upcoming Disney project. The money she earns from this gig will be donated to the wildlife conservation charity Elephants Without Borders, which surely proves Meghan's passion for her work, rather than for lining her own pockets! That awful woman...

Harry meanwhile, is a young man born into the monarchy, who saw his mother killed in some of his earliest years, and who was forced to walk behind the gun carriage carrying his late mother during her funeral procession. He was left to process that entire moment alone, without anybody holding his hand or laying a comforting arm around him. The older members of his family, including his own father, the future King, made him walk all alone in front of the world. It's no surprise that he and his elder brother William later decided to focus much of their charity work on mental health support groups and organisations.

Now, he's a man in love. He's experiencing a feeling he hasn't felt in his entire life, after falling for a woman who would make history by joining his family. He's likely felt nervous and concerned about the reaction he would gain not only from the media, but from those with whom he shares a bloodline. He's fiercely protective, after seeing what the circus surrounding his family can do, especially so since he became a father to his first child. Who can blame him for wanting to do things differently? He will refuse to allow his son to grow up without a pair of caring parental figures and will do everything in his power to eradicate the dangers his family continuously face. Harry is now able to do all of this because of the dedicated and incredible woman by his side. A woman who has shown him what life can be like if you take a risk and judge your instincts.

It takes an extremely strong pair to take on the Royal Family's traditions and actually win. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have proven that there is room for the outdated and antiquated system to change, and it's going to be very interesting to see exactly how they now manoeuvre their way through the next few months and years. Hopefully, the support they've gained from their family is something that continues, and the media personalities who foam at the mouth whenever the opportunity arises to slag them off grow bored and move on.

They will always have our support.
