Marks & Spencer have launched a new chilli sauce, said to be so flaming hot that it’s called ‘Pain’.

The sauce is made of habanero chilli peppers, one of the hottest available peppers.  The spicy chilli reaches a massive 1,000,000 on the Scoville scale, the measurement of spicy heat of a chilli.  This is one hundred times hotter than the popular jalapeño chilli pepper.

The sauce is described as '100% pain', is made from all natural ingredients, and comes with a warning that it is not for the faint-hearted.

Regarding the launch, an M&S spokesperson said: “We have seen our customer's palates change over the last few years, with their chilli threshold rising significantly. Testament to this is the number of curries and fresh chillies we sell each week.

“The 100% pain sauce is our way of having fun and challenging shoppers to relish the challenge of our hottest sauce yet”.

The department store has warned shoppers not to consume the sauce on its own, but should instead be used to complement chicken or other meat.
