We’re officially a few days into 2022! Feeling any different? Unlikely, but what the New Year does mean is that there are a whole host of exciting new video game releases coming our way over the next 12 months.

Here are the 10 video games coming out in 2022 that we can’t wait to play…

Pokémon Legends: Arceus - Released January 28th on Nintendo Switch

Following on from the success of the open world Pokémon Sword and Shield, comes Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Players will this time travel into the Hisui region and explore Pokémon's past, hoping to complete the first Pokédex and carve out their name in the region’s history.

At a time when it was rare for people and Pokémon to live in harmony, this adventure could prove to be more challenging than those which have come before. Plus, with some new gameplay mechanics, it should be an experience unlike any we’ve been through before.

Horizon Forbidden West - Released February 18th on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4

Undoubtedly one of the best single-player adventures of the generation, Horizon Zero Dawn was such a huge success that fans were immediately clamouring for news of a sequel. That eventually came and now, there’s less than a two month wait until Horizon Forbidden West hits shelves.

Players will once again step into the shoes of Aloy as she braves an exciting and beautiful, yet dangerous new region packed full of new threats and mysteries to unearth. Something tells us we’ll be spending plenty of time utilising this game’s Photo Mode; it looks like it could be the best-looking video game of all time.

Elden Ring - Released February 25th on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and PlayStation 4

Crafted by Dark Souls mastermind Hidetaka Miyazaki and Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin, Elden Ring features some of the most stunning design work the world of video games has ever seen, so there’s certainly plenty of pressure on the developers to ensure that the gameplay lives up to the lofty expectations.

Gamers will take on the role of a Tarnished, exploring the Lands Between which is full of vast fields and rolling hills which you can traverse either on foot or horseback, alone or online with other players.

Expect plenty of heartbreak in a title that is undoubtedly going to be talked about for months and likely years to come.

Weird West - Released March 31st on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

With our fingers crossed, we’re hoping that there will be no further delays to Weird West, which was supposed to come to players this month (January) but has now been pushed back to March.

This dark reimagining of the Wild West sees fantastical creatures share the frontier with the familiar lawmen and gunslingers of the era, and it'll be up to players to forge their own legend for a group of atypical heroes, making choices that shape the world around them.

Gotham Knights - Release date TBA

The Court of Owls are up to no good in Gotham, and it’s up to gamers to stop them in their tracks if they want to find success in upcoming DC video game, Gotham Knights.

Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin unite in a bid to unearth the deeply-buried secrets of the city's past before Gotham is lost forever, but with a shady society always lurking in the shadows, listening and watching as plans to bring light to such a dark location are put in place, it could be an impossible mission.

A Plague Tale: Requiem - Release date TBA

The critically-acclaimed A Plague Tale: Innocence laid the foundations for what could be one of the most incredible video games of 2022, from Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment.

A Plague Tale: Requiem follows Amicia and Hugo once more, as they journey far south from their devastated homeland, to new regions and vibrant cities. Of course, tragedy could lie in wait as the pair come to learn that every action has a consequence; especially when the supernatural is involved.

Hogwarts Legacy - Release date TBA

This immersive open-world RPG is set in the magical Harry Potter universe, inviting gamers to to be at the centre of their own adventure in the Wizarding World as they travel back to Hogwarts in the 1800s, customising a student character that they can take on a personally-tailored journey of discovery.

Your young witch or wizard will soon discover upon their entry to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that they possess a unique ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic, but will you use that power for good, or give in to the sinister offerings that fall at your feet?

Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope - Release date TBA

Expanding out of the grid-based gameplay system, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope looks like it could be one of the most enjoyable experiences the Nintendo Switch has ever had.

Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach will once again team up with their Rabbid counterparts, this time on a galactic journey to defeat a malevolent antagonist and save Spark companions. With a roster of nine, you can build a dream team of three and travel across the galaxy, exploring some gorgeous environments while you do so.

God Of War Ragnarök - Release date TBA

The critically-acclaimed God of War will see its sequel release in 2022, as Kratos and Atreus journey to each of the Nine Realms in preparation for the prophesied battle that will see the world come to an end.

As Asgardian forces prepare to go to war, Kratos and Atreus will explore stunning landscapes, packed full of Norse gods and monsters which will throw up challenging battles along the way. Will the pair choose family or the safety of the realms?

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel - Release date TBA

Another highly-anticipated sequel coming in 2022 is the follow-up to the much-loved The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Not much is known about the exact narrative we’ll get to grips with, but we will be returning to Hyrule with plenty of spirit in our heart and a determination to root out the evil plaguing the region once and for all.
