The fan favourite character - Han Solo's Wookiee co-pilot - is finally joining the third-person shooter as a playable hero as part of the Death Star DLC pack complete with his bow caster blaster.

He will be joined by villain Bossk, a male Trandoshan bounty hunter who specialised in capturing Wookiees and was hired by Darth Vader in 'Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back' to find the Millennium Falcon.

The game's developers EA DICE took the opportunity to announce the news at the Star Wars Celebration convention that took place in London over the weekend.

A video trailer for the DLC was also screened to fans at the ExCeL London Exhibition Centre.

The Death Star pack has been the most eagerly-awaited of all the DLC packages and as well as the two new playable characters it will also feature new ground and space maps, and the game will receive a brand new offline mode called Skirmish, which lets users play against bots in single-player or split-screen formats.

As the name implies, the games will inhabit the sleek corridors of the Empire's battle station and will feature a recreation of the Battle of Yavin, complete with the famous trench run from 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope'.

EA have also announced the fourth digital expansion will be called Rogue One: Scarif and will focus around the storyline of the upcoming spin-off movie 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'.

The pack will let you play as rebel fighter Jyn Erso or her Imperial nemesis Director Krennic as you fight for the original Death Star's plans on the planet Scarif.

The Death Star pack is due in September with the fourth expansion due in December to coincide with the release of the film which sees Darth Vader back on the big screen.
