'Final Fantasy IX' is getting a PlayStation 4 reboot.

The ninth instalment of the hugely popular role playing game franchise - which released its 15th instalment last year - was originally published in 2000 for the first PlayStation console, and it has now been revealed that almost two decades since it first hit shelves, the game is being remastered for the PlayStation 4.
Sony announced the news during its Tokyo Game Show briefing, and said that the Japanese version of the game would be launching on Tuesday (19.09.17).
Shortly after the briefing, PlayStation UK tweeted the news that the game is also coming to UK consoles in digital format, and can be downloaded for just £16.99.
They wrote: "FINAL FANTASY IX is on PS4 today for only £16.99 Buy on PS store for a custom theme by Toshiyuki Itahana & 8 avatars (sic)"
And, according to the worldwide PlayStation Twitter account, the game is also available to players in other regions through the PlayStation Store.
Meanwhile, game director Hajime Tabata recently said the development team at Square Enix are "pleased" with the evolution of 'Final Fantasy XV'.
He said: "From a personal level, and from a dev team standpoint, what really resonates with us is the fan feedback we got from the day one release. A lot of the major criticisms was that they felt the story was lacking in certain aspects. So for us, we did our best to give back and supplement those areas where people felt it was lacking.
"When those fans who were complaining about the story from the early days are now completely satisfied with the overall experience, that's the moment when we can say as a team that we're pleased with what we did for 'Final Fantasy XV'. And obviously, we don't plan to draw this out forever. At some point we're going to have to mark the end of the journey for 'Final Fantasy XV'. With that said, we're still listening to what the fans want and expect for this game."
