The biggest publicly-voted video game awards ceremony will be held on November 17 in London, hosted by comedian Danny Wallace, and it will be extra special as the event celebrates its 35th year.

Danny said: "I'm delighted to return to host the legendary Golden Joysticks, and to find out what the gamers themselves think are deserving of the industry's most undeniably golden awards."

The shortlist for each award category will be unveiled on September 21, from which gaming enthusiasts will be able to start voting for all their favourite titles.

Once voting closes on November 3, the winners will be announced on November 17.

Last year's ceremony saw Lara Croft inducted into the Golden Joystick Awards Hall Of Fame.

The iconic 'Tomb Raider' character - who has been portrayed by Angelina Jolie and most recently Alicia Vikander in the game's movies - was bestowed with the honour, which only recognises those who have had a great impact on the gaming industry.

At the time, Dan Dawkins, Global Editor in Chief of GamesRadar+, said: "Lara Croft is one of gaming's most iconic characters, the figurehead of PlayStation's explosion into mainstream culture in the mid 90s and truly deserving of a place in the Hall of Fame.

"The past 20 years has seen Lara become a household name and one of the most inspiring and influential female characters ever.

"Most impressively, the character has evolved over the decades, with Lara's recent, more realistic, reboot more closely aligned with modern gamer's attitudes; allied to a game-design that continues to be best in class.

"We would like to congratulate all of the teams behind Lara over the past 20 years for their achievements."
