The hugely popular mobile game has made it's latest event, named the Global Catch Challenge, available worldwide, giving players everywhere the chance to catch one of the four Pokemon that were previously only available in certain regions of the world.

The challenge will see players tasked with catching whopping numbers of Pokemon, which will be added to a combined total of Pokemon caught around the world. After a certain number have been caught, players will receive prizes depending on the level achieved as a planet.

Bronze level prizes, which unlocked at 500 million monsters caught, have already been achieved, with players getting their hands on double XP and 6-hour lures.

The top prize, at Gold level, will unlock after a whopping three billion Pokemon have been captured worldwide, and will see players able to get their hands on Farfetch'd - a Pokemon previously exclusive to Japan.

Meanwhile, Japanese players will be able to bag the previously Australia-exclusive Kangaskhan.

Players wishing to take part in the event have until Sunday November 26 to capture enough monsters to unlock the exclusive rewards.

It comes as the latest update for the Niantic game, after free customisation items were recently added in support of the new mainline Pokemon games, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

The new items include clothing such as a sun hat, sandals, and shorts, amongst other things, and all the new additions are free to all players of the augmented reality app.

Niantic said in a press release: "We're excited to announce that new avatar items are now available. To celebrate the upcoming launch of the 'Pokemon Ultra Sun' and 'Pokemon Ultra Moon' games for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, you'll be able to dress your 'Pokemon Go' avatar in brand-new outfits inspired by the tropical Alola region."
