LANTERNS and dragons may spring to mind when you think of Chinese New Year, but a cup of tea is also high on the celebration agenda.

As a nation, we drink our way through more than 165 million cups of tea a day and this is a habit we share with our Eastern friends.

Wu Long tea, an ancient blend situated between green and black tea, has been a staple with the Chinese for hundreds of years because of its health benefits.

Jayne Harvey, founder of online tea supplier Wu 4u, believes we should make a Chinese New Year resolution to switch our normal cup of tea for this healthy drink.

She said: "We are known in Britain for our love of a traditional cup of tea but Wu Long has so many additional benefits.

"It is popular with slimmers because of its ability to burn calories while boosting energy and metabolism, and it also helps improve skin and teeth condition and reduce cholestrol.

"A nice cup of tea is not only good for us, but makes us feel good and now we can mark the Chinese year of the rat with a new healthy habit."
