It's back & better than ever, the 90's phenomenon that was Pokemon has absolutely smashed it worldwide with the recent launch of Pokemon Go! With over 10 million downloads, Pokemon Go has increased Nintendo's market value in excess of 7.5 billion & this is why you should download it!
The government recommends we walk at least 10,000 steps a day to help stay fit & healthy; however, the average person walks less than 3,000 steps a day! Throw a Pikachu into the mix & Pokemon Go could have you walking up to 20,000 steps per day & burning in excess of 500 calories from LISS cardio!
The reality is, people love rewards & Pokemon Go is a rewards-driven game, people may think your mad chasing around rare Pokemon, but it really is a fun way to help you get active! If you were a 90's child I am sure you are already loving it & you've probably never been so active, & if you've never played Pokemon before, now's the time to get your comfy trainers on & start playing!
Parents as well should be encouraging their children to be playing Pokemon Go, I don't know about you but when I was a kid I used to always be outside playing, these days it seems like kids have an Xbox or PlayStation controller stuck to their hands & spend most of their day sat staring at a computer screen!
Pokemon Go can make an hour of fat burning LISS cardio pass very quickly, but more importantly, help you reach your recommended daily 10,000 step goal! LISS (low-intensity steady state) cardio is great for fat loss, you simply need to power walk & maintain a heart rate of 60-70% above your resting heart rate & you can help to burn some excess body fat & improve your cardiovascular fitness!
If you really want to push yourself, do the following bodyweight circuit every time you catch a Pokemon & you really will get a good workout done!
- 10-15 bodyweight squats
- 10-15 press-ups
- 10-15 jumping alternating lunges
- 30-60 second plank
So, if you need an incentive to get yourself out in the fresh air & to be more active, then download Pokemon Go!
