Tony Samuelson can add the Chelsea Flower Show to his long list of achievements after today, when his charming roof garden ‘Patio Provera’ won a prestigious RHS Silver Gilt medal and was awarded the highest honour in the Roof Top category.

Commenting on his win Tony said, “Patio Povera is a new kind of gardening in which anyone with a small space and an artistic eye can work wonders. I believe that Chelsea will see many more such gardens over the coming years and the award of a silver gilt medal and Best Roof Garden shows that they will receive a warm welcome. We did not quite get to the top of Mount Everest this time, but someday, someone will. When the history of Patio Povera comes to be written this will be seen as the end of Chapter One”

77 year old Londoner Tony Samuelson has not had an idle day in his life. This project makes it apparent that even in his retirement he cannot sit still. The Chelsea Flower Show in its 145 year history has never showcased a garden quite like Tony’s ‘Roof Garden With Found Objects’. A Gainsborough painting, erotic art, show room mannequins, a rubber chicken and the famous Biba dog designed for Barbara Hulanicki all play a role in this award winning garden.
