Berenice Bejo

Berenice Bejo

Berenice Bejo’s looked radiant in her Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture gown.

The mint long-sleeved gown had a deep v neckline and was everything that we've come to expect from the designers collection's, absolutely beautiful.

But it was her hairdo that made the actress stand out.

“This awards season, we’ve seen quite a few stars sporting various interpretations of the braided updo. Berenice Bejo, leading actress from The Artist, was one brilliant example. Her updo was given an interesting twist with a semi-loose French plait along one side of her hairline and the lengths were then placed into a tidy knot.” Mark Woolley.

Here, Celebrity Stylist Mark Woolley, Founder of Electric Hairdressing London, has decribed each step on how we can recreate this stunning look. Who'll be trying it out first?

Step one: Even though the hair is tied up, there should still be plenty of volume at the roots so whilst hair is still is damp, apply some L’Oreal Volume Architect Blow Dry Spray (£12.35) from root to tip. It’s a thickening blow dry lotion that strengthens the hair whilst adding fullness to limp locks. It also adds a bit of texture which will help make the French plaiting easier to master.

Step two: Blow dry the hair as smoothly as you can using a Denman Large Paddle Brush (£14) to help with detangling. Lifting the brush vertically at the roots and holding the lengths taut will really help to add volume where it’s needed too.

Step three: When the hair is dry, create a side parting and French plait the hair loosely along the hairline on one side. Once you’ve reached the nape of the neck, gather the hair together and tie it into a ponytail.

Step four: Twist the hair until it starts to twist in on itself before wrapping it into a bun but make sure you tuck the ends into an opening so it looks more like an intricate knot and secure with plenty of pins. Finally, rub some Electric Serum (£17) between the hands before smoothing the hair down to eliminate any flyways and add a glossy sheen.
