Jemma Kidd shares her beauty tips

Losing weight is a lot harder than we first think, it's takes the upmost willpower to pass on the cookie jar when you're going through a mid-afternoon slump, so, we've got beauty tips that will make it look like you've lost a few pounds.

A recent survey by Liz Earle revealed that only 13 per cent of Brits managed to make it till the end of January on their detox - it looks like a huge majority of us are in need of this slimming beauty tips.

The Dowal Walker Agency Beauty Streamline have enlisted the help of beauty experts to share their knowledge of what we can do to help create looks that will shave off the pounds.

"You can create the illusion of a perfect oval face shape by simply pinning your hair up and back off the front of your face to create height and volume. This techinque will “ lift” and add contour to the cheekbones and works well on most hair types and lengths. When your hair is off your face, it creates a more youthful appearance," says Lacey Hawkins, salon manager of Percy & Reed.

Lift and Contour…

"'Lift' your complexion by lightening the front section of your hair with softer highlights to brighten your face. Subtlety is the key and being careful not to move to far away from your existing shade, as this can have the reverse effect and look harsh and false,” suggests Andrew John, Colour Director of Percy & Reed.

Jemma Kidd, founder of Jemma Kidd make-up says: “Contouring is a technique that is often talked about but little understood. It is the opposite of highlighting, where a lighter colour is used to draw out or bring forward, contouring uses a darker colour to hollow or recede.

"This technique takes practice but can add subtle definition to the face and create the illusion slimming the face. One tip I always tell my students is to practice with bold colours. Once you have mastered the theory and techniques, go on to use more natural colours.”

Rediscover your cheekbones…

Facial massage that incorporates the lymphatic system and sculpting of the muscles, is a great way to give radiance to the skin, and even better, it can help to add contour to the face. When the lymphatic system becomes sluggish (it relies on movement of the muscles to work efficiently) and the muscles are tense due to stress, this can result in skin tissues becoming puffy, slackened and lacking suppleness.

Sculpt and Tone…

Jo Given, treatments experts at Liz Earle Beauty Co. gives us her step-by-step guide to scultping:

“Using a small amount of Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate, starting from the jaw line, push the ski gently upwards with your fingertips so that your cheeks are slightly raised under your eyes. Hold for five seconds to ‘lift’ the skin - really “work” the skin so it tingles - this will work the muscles and skin tissues.

"Keeping your hands on your face, continue with the heels of your hands and pull your skin up towards the temples - hold for five seconds. Then, rest the heel of your hands on your eyebrows with fingers on the scalp and pull upwards. Hold for five seconds.
To finish, use your whole hands with fingers pointing upwards.

"For optimum results, repeat this massage technique ideally every night or start off once a week, if you are short of time.

"Alternatively, enjoy a Healthy Beautiful Skin Facial at Liz Earle treatment rooms to get the professional version for fabulous skin!”
