Hayden Pannettiere chose a slicked back hairstyle with her Tom Ford gown

There were plenty of hairstyles on offer at the Golden Globes over the weekend, and thankfully some we can recreate ourselves.

Here we run through some of the hottest hairstyles and share some tips from the experts on how to get them yourself.

One of the biggest looks were slicked back tresses, sported by Hayden Pannettiere, Kelly Osbourne and Jenna Dewan, whereas Reese Witherspoon and Drew Barrymore opted for a softer version of the look with sleek, poker straight locks that framed their face.

Jenny Liu from YUKO said: “Slicked back hair is going to be huge in 2013. Hayden and Kelly’s style is very edgy whereas Jenna’s is much softer and has a lot more movement and bounce.

To get the Chloe and Calvin Klein SS14 shiny look simply use YUKO′s Tsuya-Pata shine spray! Formulated with YUKO′s unique expertise and infused with hydrolysed silk, Tsuya-Pata provides the ultimate lustrous shine! And in contrast to many other shine sprays, which can leave hair feeling oily, heavy or sticky, Tsuya-Pata is extremely light and soft making it perfect for use with every hair type.

Robin Wright, who won on the night, also championed in the hair department too. The House of Cards actress rocked a hairstyle that combined uptown panache with downtown edge, courtesy of celebrity stylist Paul Norton. Norton reveals that JOICO hair products served as his “power tools,” enabling him to get Wright ready and into the limo in record time!

“I was inspired by Robin’s dress,” says Paul. “It was a beautiful, sparkling, nude Reem Acra gown.” To achieve the look, he prepped damp hair with JOICO Smooth Cure Shampoo and Conditioner to control flyaways and keep hair “high-def worthy.” After a quick trim to freshen her undercut, he applied JOICO JoiWhip Firm-Hold Design Foam and blew the hair dry with a small Mason Pearson brush. Next, he applied JOICO Texture Boost Dry Spray Wax to select sections throughout the hair lengths and began pinching and directing the hair forward. In the fringe area, he swept the hair to one side, exposing the cropped side. “This gives the hair a nice edge, while keeping it super sexy and alluring with bangs that cascade over the brows,” says Paul. For long-lasting, yet touchable hold and a mega boost of shine, he finished the hair with a final mist of JOICO JoiMist Firm Finishing Hair Spray.

Taylor Swift chose a vintage look to compliment her Carolina Herrera gown.  Smooth on the top sections, the rest of her hair was pinned into waves and curls.  The only way to get this vintage look is by using a vintage method – rollers!  Use Va Va Voom blow Dry Mousse from Mark Hill on damp hair and then set using rollers.  Let your hair dry completely or speed up the process by using your hairdryer.  Once dry, use a natural bristle brush to brush out the roller marks and use your fingers to smooth and push your hair into waves and curls.  Leave the waves long and loose if you prefer, or use fine pins to keep the style close to your head.

Zooey Deschanel  looked amazing in an Oscar de la Renta dress with embellished cropped top and full skirt.  Her soft side swept chignon complemented the dress beautifully  - the smooth side swept fringe gave a nod to the glam looks of the 1950’s but was brought bang up to date with the textured chignon.  Topped with the cream rose accessory, Zooey got it right from head to toe and was probably one of my favourites looks of the night.

To get the look at home, apply Va Va Voom Mousse throughout your hair and then drying using a round brush, pointing your dryer down each section of hair and angling it in the opposite direction to which it will eventually fall to give maximum volume - make sure you get as much volume as possible around the crown area, as this gives the final style the height it needs.  When all of your hair is dry, put some large Velcro rollers in the crown area, and spray with a little Work it Girl Shine and Control Spray.  Leave for a few minutes and then remove the rollers.  Using a wide tooth comb, comb through and create a soft parting to one side. Take your hair back into a loose pony tail just behind the opposite  ear and secure with a covered band.  Now, loosely twist the pony tail around until it loops back on itself, and secure it with hairpins or grips – one or two grips should be enough.  Always allow short layers and loose ends to stick out of the chignon to give the soft texture.  Smooth through your fringe with a straightener and spray with Fabulous Finish Hairspray to hold the look.  Add an accessory to match your dress or outfit close to the chignon to complete the look.

Amy Adams wore her hair in a high bun but gave it a modern twist by adding small plaits and braids to her style.   This style could be quite harsh for some as it pulls tightly around the front hairline, but by adding just a few plaits or twists gives real softness to the style.  They also give the illusion of extra height to her style to complement her low cut dress.
