Avril Lavigne to take fashion line to New York Fashion Week
She may not be the first name you would associate with New York Fashion Week, but Avril Lavigne will be there with her latest fashion line.
The punk popstar's label Abbey Dawn promises to host a 'high energy runway fashion show' in a bid to show off the best of what skater fashion has to offer.
Avril says that the collection has expanded since its initial line of T shirts and hoodies. Fashion Week will also be the launch of her full men's wear collection.
Among the new women's wear line there are dresses, skirts, footwear, handbags, denims, wallets, purses and make up.
Though it may not possess the chic of Chanel or the decadence of Dior, it will certainly liven up the catwalk, bringing vibrance and energy to the Lincoln Center.
Critics have suggested that while the collection is perfect for her young, teenage fanbase, there are going to be very few focused fashionistas that will be interested in wearing the bold, brash statement pieces Lavigne loves to design.
Avril was in attendance at Kim Kardahian's wedding on Saturday with her boyfriend and Kim's half-brother Brody Jenner. She wore a long, shapeless, gothic number, which didn't exactly have us all hammering down the door to see what her label had to offer.
Increasingly more and more celebrities are turning their hand to fashion designing. Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice has made a respectable name for herself in the industry since her 90's pop career, with her collection of stunning and skinny structured dresses.
It seems that nothing stops the talented Mrs Beckham. Despite giving birth to her daughter Harper Seven last month and suffering from a slipped disc she will still be in attendance, though she has been advised to give her sky scraper heels a miss!
Gwen Stefani's label L.A.M.B will also show at New York Fashion Week although it is believed that the star will not be able to make it as she has prior commitments finishing her album with her band, No Doubt.
