Michelle Obama at Inaugural Ball

U.S store J.Crew has been inundated with requests for the outfits worn by the Obamas during last Tuesday's inauguration.

Their website received a record number of hits and crashed as people clamoured to copy the Obama family's stylish look.

Michelle Obama chose a pair of elegant green leather gloves for the swearing in ceremony, while daughters Malia and Sasha were dressed in custom-made garments, including colourful coats, gloves and scarves, all created for them specially by the label.

President Obama too decided to get in on the act, by wearing a white bow tie from the label's range.

Despite eager fans wanting to replicate the Obama's look, they're in for a disappointment as many of the pieces were custom-made, and the label has no intention of creating replicas.

Jenna Lyons, creative director of J. Crew, commented on the designs: "We wanted to offer a collection that would let their own personalities show through." "We will not be producing exact replicas. We want the Obamas to feel that their pieces are uniquely their own," reports Marie Claire.
