Former PETA activist Heather Mills Mc Cartney defended her decision to wear fur when she was younger.
The estranged wife of Sir Paul Mc Cartney spoke out after pictures of her wearing fur were published.
The 39 year old released a statement on her website after the Mirror showed photographs of her in her late Mums mink coat.
Mills Mc Cartney was an avid supporter of animal rights when she was married to the former Beatle.
She said; The coat belonged to my mother, who had sadly died just a few days earlier and I wore it as it made me feel close to her.
She added: I am not ashamed I wore it. At the time I was extremely young and not aware of the issues surrounding the fur trade.
