J-Lo and Marc Anthony still to work with Kohl's for collections
We were as surprised as the next person to hear that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are calling it a day on their marriage after making it an impressive seven years wed together.
The couple announced their divorce on Friday asking for privacy at this difficult time.
What makes the split even more difficult is the fact the celebrity couple have signed a deal with Kohl's to produce a his and hers line for the store.
Though Kohl's say that there is no threat to the line getting designed and up and running, we cannot help but feel that this will make for some awkward joint publicity shots in the future. We're looking forward to seeing that marketing campaign.
A spokesperson made a statement at the weekend saying: "The Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony brands have always been positioned as two separate, distinctive collections that offer high-quality contemporary style for men and women, and we look forward to a successful September launch.
This has sparked rumours that the couple were aware of difficulties within their marriage and so to try and keep things seperate signed to different deals so that they could both continue with their lines if something did go wrong.
The crooner and pop sensation have three-year-old twins together and have even supported one another on stage. And though we're sure their Kohl's lines are the furthest thing from their minds right now, we'd all still like to see what the fashionista Lopez and her stylish ex have up their sleeve in offerings to the style world.
It's nothing new celebrities starting their own fashion lines with stores, but it is rare for couples to start up something together, perhaps for this very reason. There have been very few, probably the most high profile was the limp, cheesy effort from the Beckhams a few years ago that didn't go down so well (matching leather outfits should have been a sign!)
Since then, our VB has done very well for herself with her own line.
Here's hoping that working in the same place may be what the Lopez/Anthony camp needs for a reconcilation...well the dreamers can hope!
