Beyoncé's new bob has been branded "dated" by a top celebrity hairstylist.

The pop diva's short wavy hairdo failed to impress professional hairstylist Adam Reed - famed for being one half of Percy & Reed - who thinks the singer's radical chop is a tad frumpy and isn't likely to spark a series of copycat cuts.

He told Cosmopolitan.co.uk: "I am afraid that, although I think that it suits Beyoncé, that type of long bob is a bit dated. To keep it up to date you will need to look at Karlie Kloss for inspiration, soft, shattered and face framing."

Adam recommended women go for an edgier, more modern look instead, as demonstrated by actress Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton's latest ad campaign.

Quizzed about the must-have 'do of the season, he enthused: "Michelle Williams in the Louis Vuitton ads. It is soft and feminine and on the longer side of short without being a bob, although there is nothing wrong with a bob if you keep it soft -- think Karlie Kloss.

"Add colour to define and add texture, adding a soft invisible gradient ... Everything about this look is perfect; the length, the texture, the colour. Without a doubt the look of the season."
