The 62-year-old American model - who was scouted at the age of 19 in a post office in Paris - has admitted she "occasionally" has cosmetic injections in an attempt to reverse any sun damage to her face and reduce the appearance of ageing because her career in the fashion industry puts pressure on her to look "good".

Speaking to PEOPLE about her beauty secret, the 'Timeless Beauty' author said: "I grew up in Malibu then my real job of modelling took me to beaches all over the world and under the sun. I really am aware of all the sun exposure I've had in my life and I'm interested in things that they can do to [reverse the sun's effects].

"Occasionally I'll do a little bit of filler.

"I'm a model. I want my skin to look its best ... As a model, if I don't look good, I'm not going to be able to be -- I don't want to say inspiration cause that sounds so full of myself."

And the blonde beauty - who has graced the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue ion three consecutive issues - has revealed she has been slammed for her "fake" appearance, although Christie believes it is not solely down to the gruelling beauty procedures but additional skincare products,

She explained: "Some women on my Instagram will say, 'Oh, she's so fake. It's not her skincare, she gets filler.' And it's like okay if I only did filler and I didn't use my Recapture 360, I wouldn't have the moisturizing, I wouldn't have that bounce back ... it's the whole thing. You have to take care of the texture of your skin."

And the mother of three - who has daughters Alexa, 30, Sailor, 18, and son Jack, 21 - has revealed she has embarked on a healthy eating plan to take care of himself, although she will indulge in a glass of prosecco now and again.

She said: "You've got to take care of yourself and share what you do so others can take care of themselves as well. I try to be as vegan as I can be ... Occasionally I feel like I need a little piece of salmon. I think that there's nothing like a great oyster and a little glass of prosecco. But other than that it's a vegetable based diet with lots of greens and quinoa and some couscous."
