Fashion inspiration

With the online blogging community ever-growing, a new study has revealed the influence that bloggers within the fashion sphere have with young women; more than half women aged 18-25 say that they check online fashion blogs for style inspiration.

The study was conducted by newly re-launched fashion site www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, which aimed to find out more about young women’s attitudes towards fashion trends and how they look for fashion inspiration.

The study polled 1,255 women aged 18- 25 across the UK, and asked respondents ‘What online resources do you use when looking for fashion trends and inspiration?’ The respondents were then asked to choose from a list of possible answers, to which the top resources used were as follows:

1. Online Magazines/ News Outlets         62%

2. Fashion Blogs                                               57%

3. Facebook                                                       38%

4. Pinterest                                                     29%

5. Twitter                                                            18%

Two thirds of those who stated that they turned to fashion bloggers for inspiration claimed to ‘copy’ styles showcased by their favourite bloggers; whilst the majority claimed to check fashion blogs online ‘several times per week.’

Speaking about the results, Bobbie Malpass, Editor at MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, commented:

“The internet has considerably changed the way that trends are communicated, and bloggers in particular are now playing a huge role in the online fashion space. The great thing about blogs is the fact that anyone can write about fashion if they want to, and sharing your own style is easier than ever. To see that so many young women look to blogs for inspiration is really interesting, and the likes of Pinterest have made it so much easier for people to find quirky styles and trinkets that make any outfit unique.”
