Jay Z is rumoured to be collaborating with Barneys New York.

The hip-hop icon is said to have had "secret talks" with the US department store about a future collaboration, WWD is reporting.

It has been suggested that Jay Z could play a part in the luxury retailer's upcoming holiday campaign, especially since their previous ads have featured big names like Lady Gaga and Minnie Mouse.

The news comes as no surprise as the 43-year-old rapper has been branching out from music in recent months.

His record label Roc Nation has expanded to represent professional athletes, and he joined forces with Samsung for the release of his new album 'Magna Carta Holy Grail'.

Jay Z has been vocal about his appreciation of fashion in the past, name-checking his favourite designer Tom Ford in two different songs.

He raps the line, "Tom Ford tuxedoes for no reason', in Justin Timberlake's 'Suit & Tie', and dedicated an entire song to Tom in his new album.

The fashion star recently said: "I have been dressing him for years now, and I have to say I think he looks great in my clothes. [Jay Z] is one of our biggest customers. He let me know about this [song] quite a while ago."
