Sir Paul Smith said goodbye to his relationship with number 10 Downing Street and the end of an era as he unveiled his new menswear collection Paris.

Tony Blair first entered office wearing a suit by the British designer and was seen leaving the house in another Paul Smith creation last week.

“I dressed Tony on his first day in office and he wore one of my suits on his last day – we went full circle,” Sir Paul told the Daily Telegraph.

Paul has a huge client list ranging from rock stars to the head of the Bank of England. But he won't be dressing the new Prime Minister

“Not guilty, m’lud; I haven’t touched him,” Sir Paul said when asked about Gordon Brown's fashion sense.

“He appears to be a bit self-conscious about fashion. I have met him and I would be happy to oblige. And there is a lot of red in the collection. But I doubt I will be called.”

Paul's latest menswear collection is based around and Eton/Oxford theme with the boater blazer being a key item.

Vertical striped trousers and red bow tie were also seen at this latest show.
