Jean-Charles de Castelbajac AW09

Cartoon characters ran amok at Paris Fashion Week, if it wasn't Mickey Mouse patterned dresses at Jeremy Scott, it was Kermit the Frog decorated coats at Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

Even our own Giles has been partial to use a Bambi print on his dresses in the past, albeit a not so cute beheaded Bambi.

With things been as depressing as they can be thanks to the recession it's great to see some light relief from the fashion industry. Fashion is supposed to be fun and it doesn't get more fun than this.

Forget your classy little black dresses or edgy wet-look leggings the look we're going to be road testing from now-on is cartoon character fun.

The great thing about this look is you can mix the odd piece here and there with pieces from your existing wardrobe. A cartoon T-shirt worn with skinny jeans and a leather jacket works the trend into your own casual cool style.

If you want to do cartoon cute but not childlike cutesy wear a patterned mini dress with a nice stack of bangles and gladiator sandals to give it a summer edge.

We love this Bambi-style deer dress, £60 by Orion. A touch of gold accessories and you've got the perfect cool but cute outfit!
