Michelle Ryan works red at the BAFTAs

We've had the Little Black Dress and the Little White Dress but this season it looks like you'll need to invest in a Little Red Dress to be on trend.

At last night's television BAFTAs stars including Patsy Kensit, Louise Redknapp and Michelle Ryan all stepped out in tomato hues, ensuring all eyes were on them.

Red dresses are a great, fun alternative to classic black and white and is more eye catching. The shade looks good against pale or tanned skin and blonde or brunette hair so everyone is a winner! Well apart from redheads, sorry!

Red dresses ooze sexiness so you don't need to add much accessory-wise to it. Killer heels and a couple of gold bangles work well and the gold adds a younger edge to the look.

Loose locks or tumbling curls work will look great against the vampy colour and, if you're feeling brave a slick of matching red lippy will give you a real sex kitten look.

The high street is awash with gorgeous red dresses so we've picked our favourites to save you shopping time!

We love this frilly, flamenco style dress (below left), £45 from Topshop or if you prefer something a bit more classic check out this Herve Leger-a-like bodycon dress (below centre), £70 from Oasis. If block colour scares you a bit try this Miss Selfridge dress, (below right), £35. The black straps and waistband break up the colour and the draped fabric detail was all over the catwalks this season.

As long as it's red girls snap it up quick!
