Jennifer Hudson keeps it simple in an all-white look

Monochrome may have been one of the biggest fashion trend of 2013, but it certainly doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon, if last night’s People’s Choice Awards are anything to go by.

Celebrities took to the red carpet in faithful black dresses, whilst some opted for all-white looks and some of course stuck to a monochrome outfit.

We’ve taken a run through some of our favourites of the evening.

First up, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who looked beautiful wearing a black and white Sachin + Babi Spring 2014 dress. The pleated skirt and draped bodice added an interesting touch as did the gold halter strap. Pink lips and a smoky eye completed her pretty look.

Like many women out there, we’re all wondering why she didn’t bring her handsome husband Freddie Prinze Jr as her date.

Jessica Alba chose an all-white look for her evening out, wearing a Jason Wi Spring 2014 design. The dress was incredibly sexy with zipper front, corset-style boning and lace up detail running either length of the dress.

Of course it’s never just the dress that Jessica gets right, it’s the whole look. She paired it with a pair of white pumps, last year’s must have shoe, and poker straight locks. The actress added a feminine touch with delicate jewellery and a frosty pink lip added a slightly girly touch to the overall look.

White-hot, indeed.

We’ve previously mention Malin Ackerman’s monochrome Cushnie Et Ochs revealing dress and gushed over Nina Dobrev’s embellished black Jenny Packham, so we’ll not mention them properly here.

But another white hot look we do love is Jennifer Hudson’s Kaufmanfranco Spring 2014 dress. The singer and actress looked breath-taking in the incredibly flattering dress with wrapped detail.

Jennifer's dress was incredibly flattering

She added white ankle strap heels to the look and pushed her shorter hairstyle back, and after wowing us last year with her blue eyeliner beauty look, she’s done it once again with a bronze eye and a gorgeous neon pink lip that is the perfect way to complete this look. Her make-up artist is clearly thinking about the best way to enhance her overall look and she’s most definitely getting it right.

Singer Sara Bareilles chose a Jill Stuart black laser cut dress with white shirt sleeve and collar accents for her monochrome look that was further enhanced with a white clutch bag. A pretty look, but something that doesn’t really scream awards ceremony.

2 Broke Girls star Beth Behrs, who was co-host alongside her co-star Kat Dennings, chose a beautiful black and white gown from Giulietta as her first look of the evening. The strapless gown features a white bodice with split colour skirt. She added black strappy sandals and David Webb monochrome jewels to further enhance the colour palette.

Beth chose this look as her first of the evening

Later in the evening her and Kat Dennings chose monochrome looks to present on stage, with Kat opting for an off-the-shoulder black gown with peplum waist accented by  a jewelled waist band and Beth wore a simple white lace dress with v-neckline which she completed with a gorgeous pair of silver Jimmy Choo Lance sandals.

Do you think monochrome looks work on the red carpet? Or are you over this fashion trend now?
