Kate Moss for Topshop

Kate Moss for Topshop

Topshop and George at Asda are the latest victims of the ruthless Female First Fashion Team. Let's find out why.......

Over-rated: Topshop

Topshop is one of the UK's most popular high street stores and has now even branched out to the US. With Kate Moss amoungst it's celebrity fans and supporters it's no wonder there is a whole lot of hype around the brand. But why? If you look past the reputation, Topshop is actually a little over-priced and struggles to provide the value for money of other high street stores.

A baggy printed vest top will set you back around £28, a pair of shoes around £60 and a basic pair of leggings is £12- quite a lot really!

This graphic print hitch dress is currently selling at Topshop for £45. Not bad compared to the designer offerings- but Topshop isn't a designer label! And if we look at what else is available from the store's competitors we can find a very similar dress for a lot less! Check out the George version below....

Under-rated: George @ Asda

George is definitely the best of the supermarket labels and can easily compete with the high street stores in the fashion stakes. The George team are brilliant at taking a trend from catwalk to store in the fastest possible time- and still at a bargain price.

Over the last few years George has greatly improved it's collections by introducing the G21 teenage range and the quality Moda section as well as maternity and lingerie labels.

You can pick up a brill graphic print vest top for under £10, some peep toe shoes for £12 and a pair of ruched leggings for a bargain £6- that's real credit crunch pricing!

The George version of the graphic print tulip dress is no lower in quality than the Topshop one- from what we can see- and it's selling at just £16. Good work George.
