Green has always been a colour associated with balance and calm, something we all strive to achieve in our lives. Their green paper report published earlier this year has revealed that the average person is only able to relax for 36 minutes a day and considering most of us work 9-5 that's not even the hour lunch break! Yet it seems that the power of green is helping to extend that time.

Plants are helping to reduce our stress; 45% of women prefer to work in an environment with lots of plants and it seems that tending to plants is a trend that is sky rocketing surpassing the traditional relaxation activities like yoga and baking. Research shows that 75% of females take pride in keeping plants as a way to help them relax. Leading TV horticulturist Frances Tophill as part of the Pot Plant Census study, comments;

"Topiary has been a growing trend over the past few years, following in the footsteps of bakery and knitting as the latest craft craze. It's no longer reserved for the older generation or those with large ornamental gardens, anyone can try and I encourage everyone to give it a go. There is a huge movement among twenty and thirty something's who are turning to plants to help them de-stress and re-energise. It's a brilliant and relaxing hobby, great for the body and soul!"

Also it seems that places of work benefit from painting their walls green as it is seen to reduce the stress and anxiety felt by workers, sending a peaceful and balanced vibe. It is also proved to up productivity, this could be due to the colour green striking the in such a way no adjustment is needed and it induces calm.

Green food is also more popular as people become more health conscious, Avocados are now replacing things like butter as the benefits to our health are revealed. Almost all the diets used by fitness gurus include spinach, broccoli and green beans which are low in fat and provide a healthier alternative to snacks like biscuits. They also contain high energy release which helps get you throughout the day!

With winter in full swing Green Tea has become a great healthier alternative to other hot drinks like tea and coffee, a great way to get more power of green in to your lifestyle!
