Save money by staying in

Save money by staying in

Skint and stuck for things to do this weekend? Try staying in and saving the pennies, whilst still having fun.

Film fun
Instead of going to the cinema and forking out for tickets, popcorn, drinks and other snacks, rent a film and have a movie night at home. You could even buy some cinema-style snacks from the supermarket for the ultimate experience. And no one will tell you off for putting your feet up on the seats!

Eat in
Takeaways may be convenient, but the cost adds up, and they also contain lots of calories. If you were to make your own versions of your takeaway favourites, you could not only save money, but also cut the cals. There are loads of recipes online for some super-easy dishes.

Swap-shop
Rather than going shopping for new things, which you inevitably won't have any room for in your wardrobe, invite the girls round for a swapping session. If everyone brings a few items which they're prepared to part with in order to swap, you'll revitalise your collection as well as feeling the satisfaction of having something new.

You're barred
Are your Friday nights usually spent sipping on expensive cocktails in bars? You could easily save some cash by purchasing ready-mixed cocktails from the supermarket. If you're not prepared to give up the luxury for a somewhat less glamourous alternative, why not save money in the long run by investing in bottles of spirits which you can use to make your own cocktails at home?

Spring clean
If you prefer to traipse around home and furniture stores at weekends, try the simple method of rearranging the furniture in each room. You'd be surprised how satisfying it is, and how much different everything looks simply by switching it round. It's also the perfect chance to dust and hoover all those hidden places!

Get arty
Fancy a bit of culture? Have a look to see if there are any museums/art galleries around where you live. They often have free entry, so could be a great Sunday boredom-buster.

Happy weekend!
