Adam Brody

Adam Brody

First rising to prominence as a TV teenage heartthrob, Adam Brody has had an incredibly successful career on both the small and big screens. With his good looks, witty sense of humour, and improvisation skills, Adam has set the mould for a certain type of movie actor.

The O.C. made him an instant star and household name playing Seth Cohen, but although he got his start on the small screen, Brody has watched his career blossom into supporting and leading roles in films such as Thank you for Smoking, In the Land of Women, Jennifer’s Body, and now April 27th’s Damsels in Distress.

Get in the mood for more Adam with this look back at some of his career highlights.

- Gilmore Girls (2002-2003)

Adam Brody won over audiences with his boyish charm and playful nature in his recurring role in the television series Gilmore Girls. Brody was endearing as Lane Kim’s band--mate-turned-love-interest, Dave Rygalski.

- The O.C. (2003-2007)

His role as the quirky, lovable geek Seth Cohen in the television series The O.C. gave Brody instant fame, along with a very loyal female fan base.

Brody improvised much of his character’s dialogue calling on his own sarcastic and witty sense of humour.

He redefined the stereotypical nerdy teen and inspired girls everywhere to go in search of their own Seth Cohen.

- Thank you for Smoking (2005)

Brody had a small but memorable role in the comedy/drama film adaptation of Thank You for Smoking.

His famous sense of humour was on full display in his role as Jack, an enthusiastic Hollywood studio assistant.

- In the Land of Women (2007)

The Land of Women gave Adam his first lead role in a film; playing a writer who leaves LA to live with his grandmother.

Brody was ideal in the role as the incredibly genuine boy next door, opposite Kristen Stewart. The director delayed shooting the movie so that Brody’s schedule would allow him to take part in the film.

- Jennifer’s Body (2009)

A fame obsessed lead singer who becomes a murderer may not be Brody’s usual character, but in the film Jennifer’s Body he played one with aplomb.

The role was darker than the comedy/drama roles that made him famous. Able to abandon his usual quirky, hot, nerd role with ease, Adam transformed into a very convincing emo, demon worshipping, rock n’ roller - allowing him to break free of the mould he perfected.

- Damsels in Distress (2011)

Adam Brody can soon be seen on the big screen playing the suave Charlie in Damsels in Distress.

The comedy, directed by Whit Stillman, is about a group of college girls trying to transform their male dominated campus by turning students away from depression and low standards.

Brody’s character Charlie is a smooth-talking player who wins the heart of newcomer transfer student, Lily, played by Analeigh Tipton.

Damsels In Distress will be released in cinemas nationwide April 27.
