Heath Ledger

Brokeback Mountain was defiantly seen as one of the most controversial and iconic films of 2005 as it documents the love story of two men in West America from 1963 to 1981.

Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhall) find themselves working together over the summer while herding sheep.

With the cowboy's heavy work load the two men develop a strong bond and find themselves falling in love.

With the summer over the two men go home Ennis marries Alma (Michelle Williams) and has two daughters.

Jack however is still drawn to other men, and remains single until he meets and has a son with Lureen Newsome (Anne Hathaway.)

They meet again four years later and old feelings are rekindled and it leaves the pair struggling to hide the fact that they are gay and do still love each other, but should they still remain married because society says that is right?

The film documents for the first time a gay relationship on screen and tackles the repression of homosexual love, the stories of the men are heart warming  and saw the movie winning 3 Oscars.

The scenery in the film is breath taking and all actors put in worthy award winning performances.

The movie may have upset some of the audience but the film reflects the issues and prejudice that gay people are faced with, not only in the 80s but today in modern society the issues are still relevant.
