Carey Mulligan is one of the brightest young stars that is currently working in Hollywood, already with an Oscar nomination under our belt, and that is why she has made the FemaleFirst Hot List.
Yes the British actress had a great 2011 with projects such as Never Let Me Go and Drive - both of which were excellent if you haven't seen them.
And her 2012 starts right here as he new movie Shame hits the big screen this week.
The film sees her team up with Michael Fassbender, who just sees to be everywhere at the moment, and director Steve McQueen.
Shame, in which Mulligan plays the younger sister of Fassbender, received rave reviews on the festival circuit last year and looks set to pick up plenty of nominations during the festival season.
Mulligan herself has already picked up nominations at the British Independent Film Awards and Satellite Awards.
And with this already under her belt this year and the projects that she has on the horizon her star is only going to climb even higher.
Mulligan is currently filming the big screen adaptation of F.Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, in which she is set to play Daisy Buchanan.
The movie is not only directed by Baz Luhrmann but boasts an impressive cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Edgerton and Tobey Maguire.
The movie is set to a December release in American and looks set to be one of the most see movies of the end of the year.
She is also set to team up with more high profile filmmakers as she has been cast in Joel and Ethan Coen's new movie Inside Llewyn Davis.
The Coen brothers have a knack of making movies that are Oscar nominated so we could be seeing further award glory for Mulligan when this us released in 2013.
Shame is released 13th January
