Gangster Squad

Gangster Squad

Gangster Squad was one of the movies that I was really looking forward to at the end of this year - so you can imagine my disappointment when the movie got pushed back to 2013.

But the beginning of next year is already looking like a gem in terms of the movies that will be on offer and Gangster Squad is going to be amongst them.

The movie boasts one of the best ensemble casts as Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone all come together in this latest gangster flick.

And we have the brand new trailer for you to check out:

The movie marks the return to the director's chair for Ruben Fleischer for the first time since 30 Minutes or Less as he moves away from the comedy genre.

The film is based on Tales from the gangster Squad by Paul Lieberman and will bring forties LA to life.

Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and - if he has his way - every wire bet placed west of Chicago.

And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control.

It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart.

Gangster Squad is released 11th January
