Hugh Jackman in Les Miserables

Hugh Jackman in Les Miserables

If you are a big fan of Hugh Jackman, and lets face it who isn't, then you are in for a treat in 2013 as we are going to be seeing plenty of him.

This is news that delighted us in the FemaleFirst office and his first movie of the year hits the big screen this week with Les Miserables.

The movie is already a critical and box office triumph and on Friday we will get to see what all the fuss is about.

Jackman takes on the role of Jean Valjean in the film as he teams up with Oscar winning filmmaker Tom Hooper for the first time.

His central performance has been earning him praise left, right and centre with Golden Globe and Bafta nominations for Best Actor - an Oscar nod could also be on the horizon this afternoon.

He leads an all star cast that includes Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

It is not often that such a hug musical hits the big screen and it is set to show off a very different side to Jackman for those of us who have not seen him perform in the theatre.

There are no two roles the same for Jackman this year and he leaves the musical behind at the end of the month as he steps into ensemble comedy film Movie 43.

Movie 43 sees a bunch of actors and directors come together for the biggest ensemble piece of 2013.

It is a movie that is set to he outrageous and hilarious and Jackman's section sees him star opposite Oscar winner Kate Winslet.

Emma Stone, Elizabeth Banks, Gerard Butler, Kristen Bell and Naomi Watts are just some of the other names on the cast list and Movie 43 promises to be a welcome break from all of the Oscar films that are hitting the big screen this movie.

And the Jackman movies just keep on coming as he reprises the role of Logan in The Wolverine.

The Wolverine is the second stand alone movie for the actor and the first since X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009.

The movie sees him reunite with director James Mangold for the first time since Kate and Leopold.

The Wolverine is set after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand and sees Logan travelling around Japan alone.

The film is heavily influenced by the popular Japanese story arc from the comic series.

This promises to be one of the biggest movies of this summer and rounds off a trio of films for Jackman this year.

He is also set to reprise the role of Logan in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is expected to shoot this year. Prisoners is also another project currently in pre-production that may begin filming later this year.

Les Miserables is released 11th January

Movie 43 is released 25th January

The Wolverine is released 26th July
