Pretty Woman

Pretty Woman

Julia Roberts has enjoyed a career that has spanned over two decades and it is a career that has made her one of cinema's icons as well as landing her a Best Actress Oscar.

As well as finding major success over the years she has worked alongside some of the industry's most talented actors, many of whom were also very easy on the eye. So here at FemaleFirst we took a look at some of Julia Robert's leading men.

Her most famous partnership is the one that kicked off her career, yes of course I'm talking about Richard Gere, in the ever popular Pretty Woman.

The pairing of Roberts and Gere proved to be a massive box office success as the film grossed $464 million, the most financially successful romantic comedy, easily making back it's $14 million budget.

She teamed up with Gere again nine years later for Runaway Bride, director Garry Marshall also returned. However the film was not as successful as Pretty Woman but it was a hit with romantic comedy film fans.

As well as the rom-com the actress is also well known for her crime dramas and The Pelican Brief saw her team up with Denzel Washington, based on the John Grisham novel. And she followed this up with Conspiracy Theory which saw her team up with Mel Gibson.

But 1997 saw her return to the rom-com as she starred in My Best Friend's Wedding alongside Dermot Mulroney and Rupert Everett.

The movie was a critical and commercial success as Roberts was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance.

After starring alongside Ed Harris in Stepmom she teamed up with British actor Hugh Grant in Notting Hill.

Roberts took on the role of actress Anna Scott while Grant was the bumbling William Thacker and together they produced, at the time, the highest grossing British film of all time. It was also a critical hit and went on to win a Bafta.

A remake of the 1960 rat pack caper Ocean's Eleven teamed her up with some of Hollywood's biggest names including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Andy Garcia, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle.

Together they produced a box office hit as it went on to gross over $450 million. They all returned for the sequel Ocean's Twelve but it wasn't as successful with the critics or with movie goers.

Roberts reunited with her long term friend Brad Pitt in The Mexican.

More recently the actress teamed up with fellow Oscar winner Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman in Charlie Wilson's War.

She took on the role of Joanne Herring, a Houston socialite and political activist who helped U.S. Representative Charlie Wilson persuade the American government to train and arm resistance fighters in Afghanistan to fend off Soviet troops.

This week sees her reunite with Clive Owen, the pair starred together in Closer, in Duplicity. Two corporate spies (Owen and Roberts) team up to manipulate a corporate race to corner the market on a medical innovation that will reap huge profits and enable them to lead an extravagant lifestyle together

Duplicity is released 20th March
