Annette Bening In The Kids Are All Right

Annette Bening In The Kids Are All Right

It seems that awards fever is gripping Hollywood as we count down to the biggest night on the movie calendar.

We took a look at the men that will be battling it out for Best Actor but now it’s time to but the Best Actress nominees under the spotlight.

Annette Bening - The Kids Are All Right was one of the must see movies of 2010 as Annette Bening is superb in the family drama.

It’s a tour de force performance from the wine swilling Bening as moves from inviting to cold and compassionate to a down right bitch in a heart beat.

There is great chemistry between Moore and Bening who come over as a very convincing couple who really love their children.

It’s great to see Bening mixing it with the younger acting talent in Hollywood and while I feel that Natalie Portman will win the gong I would love to see this great actress create the shock of the night.

Nicole Kidman - We haven’t seen Kidman on the big screen since she starred in Nine back in 2009 but se returns with emotional drama Rabbit Hole.

As a mother trying to grieve for her son this is an incredibly raw and powerful performance from Kidman which sees her return to her very best.

She seems to pour all the feeling that she has as a mother into her character in what is a hugely compelling movie.

Natalie Portman - To say that Natalie Portman is currently the toast of Hollywood would be a bit of an understatement as Black Swan has brought her the greatest critical acclaim of her career.

Having won almost everything on the awards circuit so far she is the runaway favourite to win Best Actress at the end of the month for her haunting performance in Darren Aronofsky’s latest movie.

Portman is truly sublime in this movie giving a very powerful and emotional performance as Nina's world slowly starts to unravel.

This is a role and a character that has allowed Portman to show off just how fine and actress she can be and her haunting performance as this troubled dancer will keep you hooked from the start of the movie until when the credit roll.

Jennifer Lawrence - Every year there is one acting talent that breaks out and announces their arrival on the scene… and for 2010 that breakout star comes in the form of Jennifer Lawrence.

While Debra Granik’s movie does boast a stellar cast, who all turn in great performances, it’s the central performance of Lawrence that really steals the show.

She is truly a revelation in this movie, which follows a young girl trying to keep her family together, and she has a very promising career ahead of her.

Michelle Williams - Michelle Williams may have been turning in great performances for many years now but it’s her central performance in Blue Valentine that has seen her finally land a Best Actress nod.

Starring alongside Ryan Gosling this movie is a character study of falling in and out of love, something that everyone watching can relate to.

It’s an unflinchingly honest performance from Williams in a movie that is brutally honest. Her chemistry with Gosling brings the story to life and captivates the audience.

The winners will be announced 27th February 27th.
