Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

The summer of 2007 saw the birth of a new franchise in the form of Transformers, while it was expected to do well upon it's release no one expected it to do that well.

Grossing over $708 million at the global box office Transformers was not just one of the biggest movies of the summers, holding it's own well against the likes of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and The Bourne Ultimatum, but one of the biggest of the year.

As well as being a big screen experience the movie also launched the careers of the two leads Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox.

While LaBeouf had been acting since the age of twelve Transformers was the first big blockbuster role for the actor. Since then, not only has be become the latest Hollywood heartthrob, but he has seen his career soar.

Impressed with his performance in Transformers Steven Spielberg didn't hesitate in casting him as Mutt Williams in Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which is just one of the movies along with Eagle Eye and Disturbia to top the U.S. box office.

Megan Fox is similarly riding a major wave of success at the moment after appearing in Transformers and the sassy and ballsy Mikaela Banes.

The actress has become a fashion icon and Hollywood superstar, the roles have come flooding in too. She starred alongside Simon Pegg in comedy How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, which was a change of direction for Fox.

She will star in Jennifer's Body later this year and Jonah Hex will see her return to the blockbuster movie next summer alongside Josh Brolin.

And the pair have returned to the roles that made them famous in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which also sees Michael Bay return to the director's chair for the first time since the 2007 movie.

The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force.

The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark.

Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with then meets the eye.

Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro as are also returning. Duhamel and Gibson reprise the roles of Lennox and Epps who have both left the military and now are part of NEST, an international taskforce battling Decepticons with the Autobots.

Ramon Rodriguez, Matthew Marsden and Rainn Wilson are just some of the new faces that have joined the cast list for a second movie.

And for those who are more interested in the robot side of things Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide and Rachet are all returning for the Autobots, as well as the inclusion of Arcee, Skids and Jolt.

And for fans of the Decepticons you will be glad to know that Megatron is resurrected and Starscream, along with appearances from Soundwave and Devastator.

But with rumours of a third movie already circulating, despite the fact Revenge of the Fallen has not hit the big screen.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is released 19th June
