Skyfall

Skyfall

October looks set to be a great month at the cinema as there is a wide mix of movies coming over the next few weeks.

They range from blockbusters to book adaptations, independent film to animation and we have taken a look at the five films that you CANNOT miss.

- The Perks of Being A Wallflower (Out Now)

If you are heading to the cinema this weekend that make sure that The Perks of Being A Wallflower is the movie that you really need to be seeing.

The movie is a big screen adaptation of the Stephen Chbosky novel and sees the writer make his directorial debut - it is one of the best coming of age movies that has been released for some time.

The movie an introvert freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors who welcome him to the real world.

Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller come together to star as a trio of troubled teens who find strength and friendship in each other - the trio all deliver great and very moving performances.

- Ruby Sparks (12th October)

Now I was a massive fan of Little Miss Sunshine and directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are back with their new movie Ruby Sparks - and it is one of the films that I am most looking forward to.

A novelist struggling with writer's block finds romance in a most unusual way: by creating a female character he thinks will love him, then willing her into existence.

Dayton and Faris reunite with actor Paul Dano in the movie as he teams up with Zoe Kazan, and she has penned this charming and quirky script.

- Frankenweenie (17th October)

With his new movie Frankenweenie Tim Burton returns to the world of stop motion animation for the first time since The Corpse Bride.

The movie is a remakes of Burton's own 1984 short film and will open the London Film Festival next week.

After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life - with just a few minor adjustments.

He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new 'leash on life' can be monstrous.

Frankenweenie looks set to see Burton return to his best and it is the animation movie not to be missed this autumn.

- Beasts Of The Southern Wild ((19th October)

If there is one movie that everyone seems to be talking about at the moment then it is Beasts Of The Southern Wild - which is already surrounded in Oscar whispers.

Benh Zeitlin makes his directorial debut with the movie but it is the central performance from child actor Quvenzhané Wallis that has captured everyone's attention.

In a forgotten but defiant bayou community cut off from the rest of the world by a sprawling levee, a six-year-old girl exists on the brink of orphanhood.

Buoyed by her childish optimism and extraordinary imagination, she believes that the natural world is in balance with the universe until a fierce storm changes her reality.

Desperate to repair the structure of her world in order to save her ailing father and sinking home, this tiny hero must learn to survive unstoppable catastrophes of epic proportions.

Beasts Of The Southern Wild promises to be like no other movie that we have seen this year.

- Skyfall (26th October)

But you can't look at October movies without discussing the latest Bond movie Skyfall - which sees Daniel Craig back as 007.

It is the first Bond movie since Quantum of Solace and this time it is Oscar winning filmmaker Sam Mendes who is in the director's chair, and that it exciting in itself.

But the movie promises to be bigger and better than ever before as Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem are just two of the new faces on a great cast list.

In Skyfall Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

There is already a lot of excitement surrounding this movie as Bond has been away from the big screen for quite some time - could this be the biggest Bond movie to date?
