Jeremy Irvine

Jeremy Irvine

Yesterday we looked at some of the actor who has made their breakthrough in 2011 - and there really were some great actors making their mark.

So today we are going to take a quick look at the talent that could well break through in 2012 and enjoy similar success.

Jeremy Irvine

Jeremy Irvine has a huge 2012 ahead of him as he takes on the lead role in what have the potential to be two massive movies.

Bear in mind that we have never seen him on the big screen before Steven Spielberg has cast him as the leas character in his new movie War Horse.

Yes Irvine is set to take on the role of Albert as he makes his debut - the movie has already got the critics excited and it is tipped to feature heavily this award’s season.

Not content with just having one major lead role under his belt Irvine will be back at the end of the year as Pip in a big screen adaptation Great Expectations.

Directed by Mike Newell the actor joins an all star cast that includes Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane and Sally Hawkins.

In twelve months it sounds like this young man could be one of out breakthrough stars of 2012.

Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley has already enjoyed a lengthy career in TV appearing in the likes of CSI: NY and My Name Is Earl but 2012 is set to be her biggest year yet.

The actress has landed the role of Alexandra King in the new movie from Alexander Payne… The Descendants.

Did I mention that is also stars George Clooney? Yes the lucky young lady finds herself sharing the screen with the lovely George in a movie that has been tipped for a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

It has already picked up nods ant the Golden Globes so expect this movie to feature heavily on the awards circuit over the coming weeks.

This is the biggest role of Woodley’s career and it looks set to from TV into movies.

Thomas Horn

Another movie that everyone seems to be talking about is Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close, which stars Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks.

But this film sees Horn make his feature length debut as he takes on the role of Oskar Schell in the Stephen Frears directed project.

The movie is based on the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer and follows nine year old Oskar as he searches New York City for the lock that matches a mysterious key left behind by his father, who died in the World Trade Centre on September 11

The movie looks set to be a very moving family drama and has the potential to propel Horn to even greater things.

Caleb Landry Jones

Caleb caught everyone’s eye this summer when he took on the role of Banshee in X-Men; First Class - which explored the early years of Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr.

The movie was a box office hit - and there is talk of a sequel on the horizon; which is something that I really have my fingers crossed for.

But 2012 sees him with plenty of projects in the pipeline. Summer Song sees the young actor team up with Alexa Vega and Patrick Mapel but it’s Contraband that could be the big release of the year for him.

The actor is set to take on the role of Andy alongside Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale and Ben Foster in what looks to be an action packed movie.

He has also completed work on Antiviral and is currently filming Byzantium with Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton.

Tom Hardy

Now Tom Hardy is by no means going to be a newcomer next year but with the role of Bane on the horizon it could be the year when his career really rockets.

2011 has already been an excellent twelve months for the actor with Warrior and Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy but 2012 promises movie.

The Dark Knight Rises sees the actor reunite with Christopher Nolan, the pair worked together on Inception, as Batman returns to the big screen.

And it is Bane who will be his nemesis this time around in a movie that looks set to blow everything else out of the water this summer.

But before we see him as Bane he is set to team up with Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in action/comedy This Means War.
