August: Osage County

August: Osage County is set to be another movie to keep an eye on this awards season as it has been whipping up a storm at the Toronto International Film Festival.

When you see a cast list with Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep on it, I suppose it should come as no great surprise that it could be a film that will by battling it out for major honours at the beginning of next year.

And we have the brand new trailer for the film for you to take a quick look at:

A truly wonderful ensemble cast has been assembled for the film as Roberts and Streep are joined by Ewan McGregor, Abigail Breslin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, Sam Shepard, Chris Cooper and Dermot Mulroney; this is set to be one of the most impressive cast lists of 2014.

The movie is a big screen adaptation of the play by Tracy Letts; who has adapted it into a screenplay, while John Wells is in the director's chair.

August: Osage Country is only the second feature film for the director, after he made his debut with The Company Men back in 2011.

George Clooney and Grant Heslov are on board as producers, while The Weinstein Company will distribute; there are some serious Oscar favourite behind this movie.

The movie tells the dark, hilarious and deeply touching story of the strong-willed women of the Weston family, whose lives have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Midwest house they grew up in, and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them.

August: Osage Country is a movie that, like so many others at the moment, is surrounded in plenty of Oscar talk. But will it be picking up nominations at the beginning of next year?

August: Osage County is released 17th January.
